ERPNext.

ERPNext implementation engineered as production ERP, not as a SaaS demo. Greenfield deployments, custom DocTypes and Frappe apps, version-15 migrations, Frappe Cloud or self-hosted architecture, and the integration substrate that connects ERPNext to the warehouses, banks, e-commerce, and payment systems mid-market enterprise actually runs on.

The problem

Most ERPNext rollouts fail at the year-end close, not at go-live.

The pattern across mid-market ERPNext engagements: a Frappe partner ships a configuration that demos beautifully on day one, then year-end rolls around and reconciliation drift shows up: multi-currency rounding off by paisas, GL accounts misposted because the chart-of-accounts was set up by a configurator and not a controller, custom print formats that don’t survive the v14→v15 upgrade. The platform isn’t the problem; the implementation discipline is.

Prosigns ships ERPNext with the chart-of-accounts, the multi-currency / multi-entity model, the audit logging, and the close-cycle workflow as primary scope. Custom DocTypes and Frappe apps written with version-upgrade discipline. Frappe Cloud vs. self-hosted decided against the actual operating profile. Migrations from QuickBooks, Tally, SAP B1, NetSuite, or older ERPNext versions are phased and reconciled. We stay through the first quarterly close.

Where it ships

6 use cases, in production.

Specific applications we’ve built and operated. Not speculative: every example below is grounded in a real shipped engagement.

  • 01

    Greenfield ERPNext deployment

New deployment for mid-market companies (50–500 employees) covering accounting, inventory, manufacturing, HR, CRM, and projects. Multi-company, multi-currency, multi-warehouse from day one where the workload requires it.

  • 02

    Custom DocTypes + Frappe apps

Custom DocTypes, Print Formats, Reports, and full Frappe apps for industry-specific workflows: pharma batch tracking, construction project costing, healthcare patient billing, education fee management. Written with v15+ upgrade discipline.

  • 03

    Zero

    lost transactions in upgrade

    ERPNext v14 → v15 (and beyond) migrations

Phased upgrade from older versions with custom-app compatibility audit, deprecated-API replacement, theme/branding port, and reconciled cutover. Documented rollback per workload.

  • 04

    Frappe Cloud architecture

Frappe Cloud single-tenant or dedicated-server deployments: release-train management, branch deploys, scheduled backups, and restore-tested DR. Or self-hosted on AWS/Azure/GCP where data-residency requires.

  • 05

    ERP integration substrate

Integration to e-commerce (Shopify, WooCommerce, custom), payment gateways (Stripe, Razorpay, local providers), banks (host-to-host, SWIFT MT940), 3PL warehouses, EDI partners, and BI/warehouse layers (Snowflake, BigQuery).

  • 06

Replace QuickBooks, Tally, SAP B1, NetSuite

Migration from QuickBooks Enterprise / Online, Tally Prime, SAP Business One, NetSuite, or in-house systems. Catalog → customers → vendors → open balances → historical transactions, each migrated and reconciled before the next.

How we engage

4 phases, named in the SOW.

Each phase has a deliverable, an owner, and an acceptance criterion. Not slogans, operating rules.

  1. 01

    Controller-led discovery

Discovery includes the controller and finance team, not just the operations team. Chart-of-accounts, multi-entity model, audit requirements, close-cycle cadence, and statutory reporting (GST, VAT, SOX, IFRS where applicable) surface before customization decisions are made.

  2. 02

    Customization with upgrade discipline

Custom DocTypes, server scripts, and Frappe apps written against published Frappe APIs only: no monkey-patches, no hacks of core. Every custom app has a v15 / v16 compatibility plan in writing. Upgrade impact documented for every customization.

  3. 03

    Integration before go-live

Bank, payment, e-commerce, and 3PL integrations designed and tested before go-live, not in phase 2. Idempotent webhooks, reconciliation jobs in CI, explicit fallback for partner outages. The first month-end runs against the full integrated substrate.

  4. 04

    Operate through the first close

We stay through the first quarterly close, and the first statutory filing where applicable. Runbooks for month-end, year-end, and statutory reporting are written and rehearsed before handoff. Then: Managed Services or documented handoff with 60-day shadow.

Common questions

Asked before the first call.

  1. 01

    Is ERPNext production-grade for enterprise?

For mid-market (50–500 employees) and a meaningful slice of larger enterprises, yes. Frappe Cloud’s dedicated-server tier handles real production load with 99.9% SLA. The platform has full multi-company, multi-currency, multi-tax, and statutory reporting. It’s used in production by banks, manufacturers, and healthcare operators. We’ll tell you honestly when ERPNext doesn’t fit, usually when SOX-tier audit complexity or 1000+ concurrent transactional users are in scope.

  2. 02

    Frappe Cloud or self-hosted?

Frappe Cloud (single-tenant or dedicated) wins for most operating profiles: release-train automation, backups, restore testing, and a real SLA. Self-hosted wins when data-residency is non-negotiable, when integration with on-prem systems is heavy, or when the customer already has a strong Kubernetes / DevOps operating practice. We’ll tell you which fits.

  3. 03

How do you handle ERPNext version upgrades?

Every customization is reviewed for v15+ compatibility before we ship it. Upgrades follow a documented runbook: spin up a v-next staging branch, port custom apps, run the regression pack, reconcile against production, then cut over with a rollback path. We don’t leave customers stranded on EOL versions.

  4. 04

Can you migrate from QuickBooks, Tally, SAP Business One, NetSuite?

Yes: all four are in our active portfolio, plus older ERPNext versions and in-house systems. Phased migration: catalog → customers → vendors → open balances → historical transactions, each reconciled before the next. Cutover with parallel-run for at least one month-end. Documented rollback per data domain.

  5. 05

    Do you build Frappe apps?

Yes. Custom DocTypes, server scripts, client scripts, and full Frappe apps for industry workflows. Written against published Frappe APIs only, with v-next compatibility committed before merge. Apps that monkey-patch core or use private APIs aren’t apps we ship. They’re a year-three migration cost we won’t hand the customer.

  6. 06

What about statutory reporting and compliance?

GST (India), VAT (UAE, Saudi, EU), e-invoicing (where mandated), SOX-aligned audit trails, IFRS-compatible chart-of-accounts. CITADEL co-pilots compliance scope from kickoff. Real audit logs, not application logs labeled as audit logs.

  7. 07

What does an ERPNext engagement cost?

Discovery + ADR set: 2–4 weeks, $20K–$60K. Greenfield deployment (single entity, mid-market): 3–5 months, $80K–$300K. Multi-entity / multi-currency / custom-heavy: $250K–$800K. Migration from SAP B1 / NetSuite: $200K–$700K. Frappe Cloud hosting passes through at platform pricing. Managed Services: $8K–$40K monthly retainer depending on user count and integration depth.

  8. 08

    Are you a Frappe partner?

Engagements run with Frappe Partner-tier access through partner relationships. We’ll be explicit on the SOW which work runs through which channel and whether platform credits / discounts apply.
